The Feast of Tabernacles or Sukkot.

Every year I take great pleasure in remembering the Biblical Feast of Tabernacles. It is charged with meaning and hope for the future.

The word Feast in his contest comes from the Hebrew word moed which means appointed time. It is a time in God’s calendar.

The Feasts in the Old Testament are explained in the book of Leviticus 23.

They are a blueprint of the plan of redemption that God has for mankind. They are a shadow of the things that will come.

For example, the Feast of Passover was fulfilled when Jesus came and shed His blood. The feast of Pentecost or Shavuot was fulfilled when Jesus ascended after coming back to life and the Holy Spirit was poured over His disciples in the upper room.

The feast of Tabernacles is the only one that has not been fulfilled yet. It points to the return of Jesus to earth.

The Feast of tabernacles happens when all the autumn harvest has been gathered.

The Jewish people celebrate by building little sukas or sheds and spending time in them.  Remembering that they had to live in tents in the desert and how at that time the presence of God was among them.

There is a great desire in God’s heart for a tangible relationship with men.  He had this relationship at the beginning with Adam and Eve until it was lost due to sin.

Then He tried to have that relationship with His chosen people, the Jews. He moved among them in the Dessert for many years.

But in the future, He wants to have that relationship with mankind.

Revelation 21:3 says Behold the tabernacle or dwelling place of God is with men. And He will dwell with them they shall be His people and God Himself will be with them and He shall be their God.

This is a prophetic word that will come to pass. He is going to come back and what a day that will be.

Praise the Lord! Come, Lord Jesus!
